Well, these virtualisation utilities are free. Thanks for Orin Thomas to suggested all of these tools in WindowITPro, some of which are unavailable, but I didn’t include those in this blog.

1. Veeam Monitor Free Edition : Free VMWare Monitoring Solution
2. Embotics V-Scout 1.1 : agent-less tool to monitor virtual machines in VMWare VirtualCenter
3. The Catbird Compliance Enforcer : This one cannot be downloaded but you need to contact catbird for the product.
4.Tripwire ConfigCheck : evaluate the security of VMware ESX 3.0 and 3.5 hypervisor configurations
5. OpsCheck : assess VMWare VMotion
6. PlateSpin Recon Inventory Edition : collect software and hardware inventory information physical and virtual servers.
7. vOptimizer WasteFinder : clean space for VM environment
8. Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit : You should not overlook when migrating from physical to virtual environment. This tool is useful for this purpose.
9. EasyVMX : Create virtual machines for VMware Player online

Hey, wait a miniute, you need (free)virtualisation platforms, too.
1. Microsoft® Hyper-V™ Server 2008 R2 : nothing to say, but it’s free.
2. VMWare ESXI : the easiest way to get start virtualisation
3. Citrix XenServer 4.1, Express Edition : another competitor from Citrix
4. VMWare Player : our good old friend from VM
5. VirtualBox : a powerful virtualisation product under GPL
