Clear remote terminal session

27 03 2010

When we made a remote terminal connection, and left without logging off, our session would waste the total number of the session on the server we connected. If there are too many ignored sessions(disconnected sessions), remote terminal connection will not be able to make any more and this pop up message will be displayed instead.

One way to solve this problem is to restart that workstation.
The better solution is to reset its remote terminal session.

C:\>query session
SESSIONNAME USERNAME ID STATE TYPE DEVICE
>console Administrator 0 Active wdcon
rdp-tcp 65536 Listen rdpwd
johnd 2 Disc rdpwd
sallyk 3 Disc rdpwd
C:\>reset session 2
C:\>reset session 3
C:\>query session
SESSIONNAME USERNAME ID STATE TYPE DEVICE
>console Administrator 0 Active wdcon
rdp-tcp 65536 Listen rdpwd
C:\>

Well, I needed to run those commands on that workstation directly.
